Join us as we gather again to run/walk to benefit the Central Asia Institute (for more information, see below).  Please note this year our race is in NOVEMBER!!

The world can be changed for good, bit by bit, when each of us joins together in these kinds of efforts.

Central Asia Institute:  For a decade, Greg Mortenson (author of Three Cups of Tea) has been raising funds to build schools in small villages in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Each one of his projects is locally initiated and involves full community partnership.  Many of these villages have never had a school to provide primary education for their children. After a decade of building and sustaining these schools, some of the children have become adults and are now attending college.Greg Mortenson’s life work has become the Central Asia Institute (CAI).  Its central mission is to promote and support community-based education and literacy programs, especially for girls, in mountain regions of Central Asia. It has been found that when a girl is educated, she often returns to her village to share her education with others. We at St. Andrew’s by the Lake Episcopal Church, in the global outreach portion of our Peace and Justice program, have committed ourselves to raising $20,000 over the next few years to help sustain some of these schools.  Your participation in the 5K Walk/Run will help us move toward our goal. We hope to have all our costs covered upfront, so that 100% of proceeds will go toward our outreach. To learn more, go to http://www.ikat.org/
